Tools You'll Need for Installation

Start by raiding this arsenal of simple tools:

  • Drill or screwdriver

  • Measuring tape

  • Pencil

  • Level

  • Metal mounting brackets and screws (which were included)

Optional:

  • Wall Anchors (Drywall or Concrete)

  • Ladder (for tall window areas)

Step-By-Step-Guide

Step 1: Measure Your Window

Inside Mount (Recessed Look)

  • Measure width and height of window frame from the inside edge.

  • Record three measurements for width (Top, Middle, Bottom) and height (Left, Center, Right).

  • Take your smallest width and height dimension as your final size.

Outside Mount (Wall or Trim Mount)

Calculate the total area to be covered — custom blinds are typically 2–3 inches wider and longer than the window opening to better block light.

Step 2: Mark the Brackets. Hold one of the brackets up to the pallet and mark around the holes

  • Position the mounting brackets at your marked location.

  • Use a level to ensure that they are straight.

  • Pencil in the screw holes.

Step 3: Screw on the Brackets

  • Pre-drill pilot holes (especially on wood or drywall).

  • Secure the brackets with screws.

  • On outside mounts, ensure brackets are high enough to accommodate entire retraction of blind.

⚙️ Step 4: Snap the headrail into position

  • Position the headrail of the zebra blind into the brackets.

  • Press softly and it will click in or lock.

  • The trap operates smoothly, test the trap to check the mechanism.

Step 5: Test and Fine Tune Operation

  • If you have a manual window blinds, pull the chain or the wand to shift layers.

  • If you have motorized zebra blinds, test the remote or app control.

  • Depending on the tightness, you may need to play around with the tension or setting.

Tips for Success

  • For large windows (greater than 60"), it helps to have a second person assist in aligning the shade.

  • You can always use wall anchors on drywall.

  • Always be certain the blinds are level before locking them in.
