Effective lighting is typically needed inside of businesses, hospitals, homes, offices, and even cars. Usually, curtains or Venetian blinds are used to cover transparent windows so that light may enter. However, the heat that this sunshine emits also contributes to a rise in the need for air conditioning.

However, you may avoid the expense and hassles of installing and maintaining enough interior lighting and climate control systems by using switchable PDLC film.

Installing Switchable Pdlc Film – Stepwise Guide For Easy Installation

We at Taizhou produce premium switchable PDLC film to meet a range of requirements. We use premium materials to create our self-adhesive PDLC films, which facilitates installation.

You can finish the installation with the aid of this easy step-by-step tutorial.

Step 1 – Make Busbar Connections To Switchable Pdlc Film

It's a two-layer film that you split in half along the little strip that runs along both sides. After that, solder wires were joined to the pasted copper tape using copper foil tape and silver paste.

Step 2 – Preparing The Switchable PDLC film

99% isopropyl alcohol or an acetone solution should be used to clean the glass surface where the switchable PDLC film is to be applied. After cleaning, make sure the glass is free of contaminants, dust, and any remaining solution.

To confirm appropriate size, place the film on the glass. You should not try to put a bigger film on a smaller glass surface. The PDLC film may be cut to the required size using a knife.

If the film appears too small for the glass, you may use molding to fill up the gaps, which also helps to conceal the wire.

Because the wire path can have a significant influence on the installation procedure, it is vital to arrange it ahead of time. For a more effective setup, it is advised to conceal the wire along the sides, beneath the molding.

Step 3 – Sticking Film

For simpler installation, the peel-off label on the self-adhesive switchable PDLC film indicates which side is sticky. It contains two sticky coatings: a thicker inner layer that can be peeled back to reveal the adhesive substance for glass installation, and a thinner top layer that can be removed entirely.

Installing switchable PDLC film is advised to begin at the top and work your way down after removing the adhesive layers from the glass side. This reduces the possibility of debris and dirt becoming stuck. For a safer installation process, it is crucial to leave the adhesive layers on the non-glass side unaltered.

Installing PDLC film is similar to installing wallpaper, with the key difference being that wallpaper is more flexible. During the installation procedure, alignment and the avoidance of air bubbles are critical.

Using your hand press tool, begin at the middle top and apply uniform pressure. When it reaches the edges, slowly slide it from left to right. This will remove any trapped air bubbles and maintain the film flat and smooth.

It is important to verify the switchable PDLC film after installation to ensure good operation. Turn on the electricity by connecting the busbar connectors to a power source. If everything is operating as it should, the film should change from clear to opaque.
